July 25, 2016

This past April, QLA received a 96.69 score from the on the International Featured Standards (IFS) Logistics certification audit. In so doing, they became the first QCD distribution center to be certified for a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) scheme. The score is considered to be in the “highest grading tier” which is a significant accomplishment for a first-time audited facility.

The IFS Logistics certification reviews six major areas:

  • Senior Management Responsibility

  • Quality and Product Safety Management System

  • Resource Management

  • Realization of Service

  • Measurements, Analysis, Improvements

  • Product/Food Defense and External Inspections

“QCD’s continued focus and commitment to food safety are reflected in the outcome of these audits,” said Ali Seyedi, President, Quality Custom Distribution. “This is accomplished through outstanding teamwork at all levels and our terrific frontline associates are the key to our success.”

“This is a great accomplishment and reflects well on the business unit and facility’s commitment to food safety and continuous improvement,” said Ed Savard, Vice President Food Safety, Compliance, and Engineering for GSF. “It’s a challenge for many facilities to attain the highest level on their first GFSI certification audit as QLA has, and most do not succeed.”
