QCD Charlotte Sprints to Finish Line Raising $40,000 for Special Olympics

October 22, 2016

On October 22, QCD Charlotte participated in the “World’s Largest Truck Convoy,” a national one-day celebration of the trucking industry, its allied partners and law enforcement, to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics team in North Carolina. Spanning 38 states and Canada, the event featured more than 100 trucks from the facility, and raised more than $40,000 for the cause. Drivers completed a 28-mile police escorted convoy and then met with the athletes for lunch and an award ceremony immediately following.

“The QCD team was very professional and showed great team work,” said Keith Fishburne, North Carolina President of the Special Olympics. “Because of the success of this year’s event, we have invited the team to cheer on the athletes during the opening ceremony for the state games in 2017, and are thrilled to have them present!”

QCD Charlotte has sponsored the event for seven years. They were awarded a plaque for their participation and for helping make the convoy a continued success.
