QCD Career Story: Casey Araujo

Casey Araujo, the Regional Human Resources Manager in Orlando, Florida, joined QCD in mid-2015 and seized the opportunity to cross over from QCD into a different division of Golden State Foods (GSF) to gain broader career experience. Encouraged by the company's commitment to nurturing talent and fostering career advancement, Casey has successfully navigated through locations and roles of increasing responsibility.

QCD’s core values initially drew Casey to the company, along with the clear advancement opportunities, stability, and growth. Proven by the decades-long tenures of many associates, the company culture not only retains talented people, but helps them acquire more skills and experience for career progression.

From Florida to Texas and Back Again

This culture has shaped Casey’s journey, starting from her first role as Human Resources (HR) Generalist in Orlando, where she initially demonstrated her capability and dedication. Three years later, she earned a promotion to Senior HR Supervisor, overseeing QCD teams in Orlando and Miami.

In 2019, Casey relocated to Burleson, Texas to serve as HR Manager for one of GSF’s four Liquid Products North America manufacturing facilities. Her positive impact there resulted in a promotion to Senior HR Manager in 2021. She then moved back to Orlando in 2023 and rejoined the QCD team as Regional HR Manager, supporting operational distribution center teams across seven East Coast locations.

Casey’s roles across GSF’s LPNA and QCD divisions have expanded her network and deepened her understanding of foodservice supplier operations. She also credits her multi-divisional experience for enhancing her effectiveness as an HR partner and affirming the consistent culture throughout GSF.

Maintaining Her Training

Casey maintains her HR certifications and continues her education through GSF University and active project participation. She holds certifications such as Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Society for Human Resources (SHRM) Certified Professional, which require renewal every three years. Her dedication to professional growth is further demonstrated through her participation in GSF’s Speed of Trust trainings, LEAD 101 course, and her volunteerism as a GSF Foundation local committee member.

Supportive Leadership

QCD’s leadership team and supportive environment have significantly influenced Casey’s decision to continue her career with the company. She believes that the focus on collaboration and continuous learning aligns perfectly with her professional values and aspirations.

Mentors like QCD Orlando General Manager Kevin McDade, as well as fellow HR leaders Charley Huggett, Melissa Vieira, and Ed Rodriguez, have supported her professional development every step of the way, giving Casey guidance and opportunities to help her excel.

Career Advancement Advice

Casey encourages other aspiring leaders to set clear career goals, take initiative, seek feedback, and engage in internal networking. She considers these actions essential for anyone pursuing career advancement at QCD.

To sum up what enriches her work experience most, Casey enjoys her supportive colleagues, the culture of continuous learning, inclusivity, collaboration, and the abundant growth opportunities at QCD. Looking forward, Casey aims to expand her role within the company and mentor future leaders, continuing to make a positive impact at QCD.
