Since joining QCD in 2010, Saul Penaloza has risen steadily through the ranks, evolving his career from hands-on warehouse operations to a key leadership role. As Warehouse Manager for QCD Los Angeles, Saul exemplifies how perseverance, a values-driven work ethic, and a commitment to professional growth can lead to meaningful career advancement.

“What first drew me to QCD was the culture,” said Saul. “The commitment to treating others with respect and doing things the right way really stood out to me. I knew I could build a future here; not just a job, but a long-term career.”

Starting out picking pastries for customer orders, Saul embraced every opportunity to grow. As the facility transitioned to its current La Puente location and added frozen product handling, so did Saul, moving into roles in loading, receiving, and transportation. He became a driver helper, earned a transportation lead role, and eventually came back to warehouse operations, where he steadily advanced to his current position.

Leading with Purpose

What’s kept Saul motivated through more than a decade at QCD? He says it’s the culture of promoting from within and leaders who recognize potential.

“QCD has always believed in developing its people. I’ve had managers who mentored me and gave me real opportunities to lead,” he shared. “That kind of trust and support motivates you to give your all every day.”

Through leadership development programs and coursework with Golden State Foods (GSF) University, Saul has continued to expand his skills while giving back to his team. Whether it's stepping up during challenging times or training new associates, Saul embodies QCD’s commitment to teamwork and service excellence.

Looking ahead, Saul hopes to one day run his own facility and eventually support QCD at the corporate level, improving operational efficiencies across multiple sites.
